Changing the local dairy landscape one state at a time.

THE FUTURE OF

Have you ever wondered what the numbers on your milk jug mean?

Processing plants are required to print a state and plant code on milk and dairy products.

These codes indicate where your milk was bottled and processed.

With so many choices in the dairy aisle, it's difficult to know what milk is local. Thankfully, there's a hidden secret on every gallon of milk that will answer the question, "is my milk local"? Supporting dairy farms in your own community is simple. It's as easy as checking your jug.

THE CHALLENGE

Year after year, local milk loses space in the dairy aisle while imported dairy gains ground. We know consumers want access to a fresh product from local farms. With help from the public and shoppers, we can begin leveling the playing field for our local farmers and their families.

ABOUT US

A grassroots movement of like-minded Florida and New Hampshire dairy farmers who want you to know supporting local is as easy as looking for the state code on dairy products. Not all milk is created local!

Granite State Dairy Promotion administers the campaign. We are a like-minded group of farmers working collectively toward the same mission; to ensure local dairy farms continue to serve as the foundation of their local communities for generations.

Granite State Dairy Promotion is a Non-Profit 501 (c)5 organization funded primarily by New Hampshire dairy farmers. We are a qualified checkoff program under the Dairy Production Stabilization Act Of 1983. Our efforts strive to maintain the survival and viability of existing state and local dairy markets. We are not a member of the United Dairy Industry Association (UDIA).

Many dairy farms across the nation can choose where their check-off dollars are allocated. Of the 15 cents, 5 must go to the National program, but the remaining 10 cents can be directed to a check-off organization of your choice. You can even split these 10 cents among different organizations. Simply contact your cooperative or handler and ask them to make the change for you.
